My dad told me something happened in their church that has not happened in forty years….a woman delivered the message at 11am service.  I was shocked!   If their founding pastor was alive, he would not have allowed a woman near the pulpit.  The deacons had to vote and agree for her to minister the word.  I informed my dad that no one can stop a move of God.  God will use whomever He pleases to spread the gospel of good news.  If God chooses women to teach the gospel of good news, so be it unto us.
I did not attend the Sister’s Arising conference hosted by Prophetess Angelia Shepherd.  Prophetess Pia Pollard shared a few clips from the conference.  During her message, Prophetess Shepherd shared that God is raising women in ministry and I agree.  God is strategic.  God created the first man, but He chose women to give birth to all mankind.  Think about it!  Mary was filled with the word.  Mary carried the word.  Mary gave birth to the word.  If this is not an example of ministry, I don’t know what is.
Women have always been in ministry from the birth of Jesus (Luke 2:1-6), at the crucifixion (John 19:25-26) and resurrection (John 20:11-18).  Miriam, who was a prophetess, served alongside her brothers Moses and Aaron during the Israelite’s exodus from Egypt (Exodus 15).  Deborah served as a judge over all Israel and helped Israel get victory over the Canaanites (Judges 4 & 5).  Junia was imprisoned right along with Paul for the sake of the gospel.  Paul described her as “outstanding among the apostles” (Romans 16:7).
1 Timothy 2:12 is the passage of scripture used in order to silence women; however, it is not a mandate from God.  In the meantime, we will not allow transactional teaching and cultural application to prohibit us from the greatest charge which is the Great Commission.  The Great commission is a huge challenge that requires the full deployment of both men and women.  Why are women God’s secret weapon?  The answer is simple: The first round involved the enemy and a woman.  Consequently, the final match should include women.
