We mostly know the passage in the bible where Jesus asked the disciples who do men say that I am? We also know that Peter was given the revelation from God that Jesus was indeed the Christ, the Son of the living God. (Matthew 16:15-16) In contrast, how many of us know who the Lord said we are? The reality is if we don’t know who we are, we will come across people who will attempt to tell us who we are and even who we aren’t.

There is a huge problem with trying to rely on others to tell us who we are. The thing is because human nature is fickle, what we are will change according to how they feel about us from day to day. One day you may be a powerful leader in the Lord, but if a person gets disappointed they may not hold that same view of you. You might end up being called a witch or a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Also, we must be careful of referring to people according to the condition they may be encountering. The Lord revealed something to me that really made me understand why we have to be careful about labeling others according to their struggle or what they are going through at that moment. He only calls us who we are. Some examples of this is, He has called us by our name. He has called us His beloved, the apple of His eye, His son or daughter and so forth.

In contrast, the Lord will never call us rejected, angry, hurt, or any behavior pattern we possess. Why? He doesn’t see us as that. He sees us through the eyes of Jesus. Therefore, even if we are dealing with some of those things, He never refers to us as that. Sadly, we have a bad habit of referring to others by their conditions. What we don’t realize is that the person ends up fighting those labels as well as whatever struggle they have going on.  We must be careful what we say. (Ephesians 4:29).

In conclusion, we all have our moments where we don’t feel our best or that we aren’t making that much of a difference. This is where we have to go to the word of God. If we can’t in that moment, we must recite back to ourselves what the Lord has spoken of us. The Lord will use others to speak what He has said. We just can’t rely on that.  If all else fails, we can ask Him in prayer. He will most certainly answer us.
